Ease polymer dispersion in water.
Helps thickening polymers to set up and build viscosity
In O/W emulsions:
At low concentration (1-4%): humectant but no residual sticky effect: silky “signal”.
Can partially replace glycerin while improving moisturizing efficacy and adding extra
benefits.
High Betaine concentration does not destabilize emulsions.
Increase thickness without decreasing spreadability.
In W/O emulsions:
Betaine can replace Mg sulfate and NaCl in cold stabilization of W/O emulsions.
The amount of emulsifier can be reduced.
The best stabilization effect was observed with 1-1.5% Betaine.
